Posted in Art, Cleveland, Events, Uncategorized at by Art Addict

This new job is kicking my you know what I could use some energy. However, you’ll just have to settle for information on where to find out about the Sparx in the City Gallery Hop. It’s coming up soon—September 15-16 (Just a day before a digit turning birthday for me–ugh! Of course, I’ll be off celebrating in NYC. Hooray!)

It’s a great opportunity for you however to check out a ton of what is going on artistically in the city with galleries, studios and more accessible to the public from Little Italy, to Tremont, to City Center and other neighborhoods. Park at the Galleria for onyl $1 and you can take the trolley to numerous destinations

Learn more about Sparx in the City which links so much of our valuable art resources, gives you the opportunity to experience a lot in just a few days, and encompasses so many different genres of art.

Pretty in Pink (A color I dislike!)

Posted in Cleveland, Shopping, Fashion and Design at by Art Addict

I am not a fan of pink, not the singer, not the color. But I am a fan of Pinky’s Daily Planner. Since, I’ve been lax giving you cool arts and event updates lately, I want to refer you to a charming LOCAL fashion designer. (Yes, Virginia, there is a Cleveland Fashion Designer!) Believe it or not, local designer Stephanie Fralick actually founded Pinky’s Daily Planner in 1997 and now her collections are even available in New York and Chicago.

I must confess I’ve never visited her showroom, but you can during the Sparx gallery hop the weekend of September 14th-16th according to her web-site.

Her clothing is adorable! Lots of retro flair–pencil skirts in lovely longer lengths, cap sleeve blouses, and longer dresses.

Just a few of my favorite pieces:

If you’d like to support a local designer, and nab yourself a unique piece definitely not available in the mall check out index2.gif.

Keep posted…

I know I’m being a little lax leaving ya’ll hanging when it comes to art news and events.  I’m starting a new “day” job in a few weeks, and pretty much all the preparation is beginning now (Well, it’s been going on, but now I’m inundated).

Yes, to give you a little personal info on to the land of teaching again, but starting over in a new grade means a lot of work.  So bear with me, after all, we want the little darlings to get the best education possible, and that involves a little work and pre-planning!  (And a lot of dollars spent on materials, and a lot of time surfing the net for ideas, and a lot of time in meetings, and……well, you get the idea!)

Burning River Fest is bigger and better this year

Posted in Cleveland, Events at by Art Addict

As anyone who has read this blog..umm…maybe once knows, I tend to like to promote “green” living in Northeast Ohio. If you’re interested in finding out just what the heck “green” means as far as Cleveland is concerned visit the Burning River Fest this weekend at Wendy Park. From 1:00-9:30 p.m. There will be tons of displays from local groups and organizations, as well as sponsors on eco-friendly products, green living, sustainability and more. There’s two stages of music throughout the day, local artists exhibits, boat rides, a rock climbing wall, food and of course beer from the Great Lakes Brewing Company (They’re the main sponsor after all!) There’s plenty of fun activities, but even more importantly lots of education!

Mixed Plate Feature on Valerie Tyler Designs

Posted in Art, Cleveland, Jewelry, Shopping, Fashion and Design at by Art Addict

I was honored to once again have my jewelry featured on a wonderful shopping blog. I’ve been a lurker on the blog for quite awhile so I was thrilled.  Check out the feature at Mixed Plate. While you’re there peruse the blog author Liana’s articles on other great indie artists and products, featuring anything from bags to clothing, paper products to specialty boutiques. In addition, if you sign up for her newsletter you can win free goodies in the “Goodie Galore Giveaway”.  I especially love that she links to sites and organizations for a good cause and sites on “going green”, so I’d encourage you to check out those links as well.  Have fun reading and shopping!

The summer art fairs are beginning to wind down for the year. Be sure to check out one more this summer as the free art festival “Affair on the Square” will fill the downtown city center with over 150 artists. This juried event takes place from 11am to 5pm on Sunday, August 12 2007. There will be live entertainment and food from establishments such as Mapleside Farms, Marie’s Cafe, Cool Beans, and The Diner. Cleveland Public Theater Pandemonium 2007

Posted in Cleveland, Events, Uncategorized at by Art Addict

A few a days ago I received an invitation packet for Cleveland Public Theater’s annual fundraising extravaganza. I think if one were to go to any fundraiser, on the merits of how fun it would be, this would be the one.   At $100 per person, you do certainly have to budget this one out, but as far as fundraisers go, it’s not too steep. It’s Saturday September 15 A Cleveland Public Theater, 6415 Detroit Road.

pan-hotel-for-website.jpgThis schtick this year is that you’re checking into the “CPT Paradise Hotel” where behind every door of every room something fantastic awaits (aka different kinds of entertainment throughout the entire campus of CPT). There’s “room service” with complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks (gee, that’s a deal compared to most hotel ” mini bars”) and of course food stations throughout.

Apparently there is some sort of “Lost and Found” box some where in the hotel containing everything from”inhibitions and enlightenment to yo-yo’s and neckties”.

Valet parking is complimentary, and $75 of your $100 donation is tax deductible.

Reservations are due by September 7th and it all definitely sounds intriguing so check it out now. Or should I say make plans to check in?
