Weapons of Mass Creation (WMC) Cleveland: This isn’t the Miami Winter Music Conference

It did make me laugh that the acronym for an upcoming indie art and music event in Cleveland has the same acronym as Miami’s famous winter music conference (which is on a complete opposite end of the music spectrum), but it was nice to see that the event is being held at the Parish Hall and Church space on Detroit Ave. in Cleveland. We went to Parish Hall years ago for an experimental music event so I can attest it is definitely a cool space. On the weekend of May 22 and 23, 2010 it’s bound to be a haven for punk and folk music lovers. The Weapons of Mass Creation show will be hosting a variety of art, including film and music for a pretty reasonable price. Tickets start at just $15, and if you really want to spend some cash you can spend a whopping $40 for a 2 day pass, sponsor link and a t-shirt. I’m not sure how I feel about the fact that it’s a pretty testosterone laden event (There are very few female artists, performers and only a handful of filmmakers) but I did take a listen to some of the band samples which sound pretty good, and there is decent lineup of speakers and films to catch your creative interest. It looks like an organized celebration of the indie arts that might be worth checking out.
